Oak Class Autumn Term 2017
Welcome back. I hope you all had a lovely summer. All of the children have had a great first week back and have been working hard.
This term our topic will be Anglo Saxons and Vikings. We started our Autumn term with a WOW day where we designed and made Anglo Saxon brooches.
Our Literacy work this term will be focusing on developing writing skills through a range of writing styles linked to our topic.
In Maths we will be developing our reasoning skills through a variety of problem solving situations that require the children to use the number skills they have already learnt to solve the problem! We will also be using Big Maths to develop strategies for quick mental maths.
Our Science is focusing on Changing Materials. We will be learning about properties of materials and reversible and irreversible changes, whilst developing our enquiry skills through independent investigations.
This term PE lessons are on a Monday and Friday. The Monday PE session will be our swimming lesson which will begin shortly, a letter will be sent home with more details.
Every Monday the children will be given spellings to learn for a test on Friday. Homework will be given on a Friday to be handed in on the Wednesday. Please continue to read every night and practice times tables.
We are looking forward to a fun filled and exciting Autumn Term.
