Welcome to Rowan Class
Each couple of weeks we have a new topic and our play based, learning experiences are based around this. We learn inside and out and so we need warm and waterproof clothing every day.
We also do Forest School most Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, please ensure you child comes to school in old, warm clothes and a full set of waterproofs and wellies.
On Friday we do PE with our sports coach Mr Hughes so we need our PE kit of black shorts, a yellow t-shirt and black pumps on that day.
We read every day and ask that you do the same with your child, even if it is only a couple of pages, it is the repetition of words and the chance to practise their phonics that embeds their learning of reading at this age. Your child will also bring a library book home to share with you each week.
Each week your child will also receive a piece of homework to practice at home which enables you to support your child and know what they are learning.
We share many of their learning experiences with you using Tapestry On-Line Learning Journey. You are also able to upload things that you see your child doing at home so that we can share and celebrate your child’s achievements together.
You are always welcome to stop for a while in class or join your child for certain parts of the day to share our learning experience with your child.
Every child in our class has a Key Person who guides their learning and is there to support them when needed. They welcome a chat with you to update you on your child’s progress and for you to share yours child’s achievements at home with them. Working together we can give your child an excellent foundation to their school life.
